How to Review Your Weekly Hours and Earnings

Use time windows, CSV exports, and a short review to understand your saved work.

A weekly review should answer a practical question: where did the recorded work go? Start with saved sessions, then look at jobs, notes, and totals. A large earnings estimate is not enough on its own; it is more useful when you can explain the time and rates behind it.

QUICK TAKEAWAY

Review checklist: date range, selected jobs, active versus completed time, recorded rates, notes, and one useful change for next week.

Choose the period deliberately

Expand Earnings & work history and choose an earnings window. ClockFuel's current This week view uses today and the previous six days, a rolling seven-day period. It is not a Monday-to-Sunday calendar week. If you need a specific client reporting period, use explicit start and end dates in Invoice + email before exporting a CSV.

Finish active work before comparing totals

The live display can include an active session, but completed-session exports are based on saved history. Stop and save if you want that session included in the exported report. If two totals differ, first check their period, selected job, and whether one includes active time. Do not assume the difference is a lost session.

Use notes to explain patterns

Read notes from unusually long or short sessions. A longer task may reflect additional scope, waiting, or a mistake in when you stopped the timer. Notes can explain the situation without changing the duration. Recent history only shows the latest sessions; use a broader date range and CSV export when reviewing older work.

Make one adjustment for next week

Choose a single change based on the review: clearer job names, more realistic planned hours, or notes at each pause. If you need a total of exported hours, sum the Hours column in your spreadsheet and keep the date range with the report. Keep received payments separate from the estimated earnings figures so the report is not mistaken for cash received.
