CLOCKFUEL HELP
A little help.
Back to work.
Start here, find the right button, or understand what the app is telling you.
Create an account and start your first session
- Open Your account and select Create account. Already registered? Select the Sign in tab instead.
- Enter your email and a password of at least eight characters. Open the confirmation email. Check spam or junk if it does not arrive.
- Open your workspace. Set the job name, hourly rate, and Hours today before starting.
- Press Start when you begin work. Your first timer session starts the seven-consecutive-day Pro trial.
- Stop when finished and wait for Saved to your account.
If you forgot your password, choose Sign in, then Forgot password. Use the reset email to choose a new one.
Start, Pause, Resume, and Stop
Start begins a session. Pause stops counting active time temporarily but keeps the session open. Resume continues that same session. Stop finishes it and adds it to work history.
Stop before changing jobs. A paused session is still active. Saved active sessions can be restored, but avoid working in the same account on two devices at once.
Why are some fields or buttons disabled?
While a session is active, including paused, the job selector, job edits, rate, planned hours, and focus target are locked. Stop and save the session to edit these settings. Do not reset your data to unlock a field.
Other reasons: Solo allows only one active primary job; Delete job is disabled when only one job remains; an expired trial prevents new tracking; and a cloud conflict can temporarily block changes. Read the cloud-save message at the top before continuing.
Add or rename jobs
Expand Jobs & focus settings. Change Rename current job and select Save name. During the Pro trial or on Pro, enter a name under Add a new job and select Add job. Stop any active session first.
Solo tracks one primary job. Other saved jobs remain read-only history. Pro supports multiple active jobs with separate rates. Deleting or importing data is not a way to switch subscription tiers.
Understand earnings and Hours today
Hours today is your planned tracked time. At $50 per hour, a seven-hour plan produces a $350 target. That is a goal, not money already earned. Live earnings are estimates based on recorded time and rate; they are not client payments or take-home pay.
Set a focus target in Jobs & focus settings for your focus streak. Historical sessions keep their recorded rate when you later change the current rate.
Add optional work notes
Pause or stop to open What did you work on? Enter a short summary and choose Save note, or Skip. Save your note before resuming or leaving. Use Add note or Edit note in recent history to change an editable session's note.
Notes allow up to 2,000 characters. They describe the session but do not change its time or create separate task timers. Notes appear in CSV exports and invoice drafts, so review sensitive details before sharing. No automatic email is sent.
Review and export your history
Open Earnings & work history for totals and recent sessions. The current This week window is a rolling seven days, including today. Month and year views begin at the start of the current month and year.
For exact reporting dates, open Invoice + email, set the start and end dates and job filter, then download the CSV. Complete your active session first if it should be included. CSV contains completed session records and work notes, while the live display can include active time.
Prepare an invoice or email draft
- Open Invoice + email.
- Enter client and project details. The invoice contact email does not change your sign-in email.
- Choose the dates and correct job, then Generate Invoice.
- Review rates, totals, and notes. Copy or download the text draft, or download the CSV time log.
- Choose an email tone, add your sender name, and copy the email into your own email service.
ClockFuel does not send client emails automatically, schedule reports, or collect client payments. Drafts should be reviewed and completed for your own billing process before you send them.
Cloud saves, device switching, and recovery
Your signed-in workspace is saved to your account, with a local recovery copy in this browser. Wait for Saved to your account before switching devices, then open or reload the workspace on the other device. This is not real-time collaborative syncing.
If saving fails, do not clear browser data. Keep the page available and use the recovery download or backup options. If offered Use cloud copy or Keep this local copy, preserve a backup and choose the version you want deliberately; one choice can replace the other version.
Make a backup safely
Open Data backup & reset and export your workspace. The download is named clockfuel-backup-DATE.json. Keep it somewhere you control. The JSON backup is for workspace recovery; CSV is for reviewing time logs.
Importing a backup replaces the workspace rather than merging records. Export the current version first. Old backups with the previous brand name can still contain useful data; do not delete them just because of the filename. Reset Day deletes today's saved sessions and is not required for starting a fresh session.
Plans, promo codes, and cancellation
The Pro trial lasts seven consecutive days from the first timer Start, with no card required and no automatic trial charge. Solo is $5/month for one primary active job; Pro is $9/month for multiple active jobs. Both include notes, history, invoice drafts, CSV, and backups.
Open Account and expand Choose a plan. A paid subscription starts when you confirm checkout, even during the trial, and renews monthly until canceled. Enter any promo code in Stripe checkout and check the final amount before confirming.
Manage billing opens your Stripe billing profile. It becomes available after a profile is created during checkout. Paid members use it for payment details, invoices, plan changes, or cancellation; read the effective date shown in Stripe. If checkout says another plan is already open, return to that plan's checkout or wait for it to expire.
When tracking access ends, saved history stays available to view and export. An already saved active session can still be finished.
